The new buses are part of a fleet of 12 Scania Euro 5 buses that will be operated by Metro, with the rest to be delivered by March 2009. The low emissions Euro 5 engines are two generations ahead of current required standards. Transport accounts for 22% of the State’s emissions. If Tasmania’s emissions reduction target of 60% by 2050 is to be met then action needs to be taken now to reduce our carbon footprint. So catch the bus instead of driving. You’ll reduce your carbon footprint and save money on fuel at the same time. And with more cars off the road you’ll get there faster!
