ClimateConnect grant to help farmers reduce emissionsNRM North was announced as the first recipient of a ClimateConnect grant by the Minister Assisting the Premier on Climate Change, Lisa Singh on Saturday 6 June. NRM North will receive funding for a community based project to develop and implement emission and energy reduction strategies for Tasmanian agriculture. The funding will assist NRM North to conduct a number of workshops, field trips and property specific energy audits, to help develop measures to reduce energy use and greenhouse gas emissions in agriculture. The agriculture sector is the highest contributor of greenhouse gas emissions in Tasmania, making this a very important project for the State. The project will be rolled out in partnership with Hydro Tasmania Consulting, Agricultural Resource Management (ARM), the Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association, and the Department of Primary Industries and Water. |
